Jennifer White steps up her game with a move of the Orchid to the former location of Simplicity Bistro. Not to worry she has already survived 4 moves in her 22 years of business so she won’t blow it on this one either. During the day it will be the well known comfortable food in a comfortable environment with the super friendly staff and then new to the Orchid will be a dinner menu, another chef and a liquor license!
The Grande Finale at the present location will be on May 22nd and then on June 11th the new Orchid opens down the road. After 22 years in business and renting for all those years, Jennifer is buying the old Simplicity location so this will be the “Forever Home” of the Orchid. After watching
18 other restaurants come and go during her time, Jennifer now has the honour of being the longest standing restaurant in town (R.I.P Wong’s Chinese which held that honour for years). Truly amazing to know that Jennifer is self-taught in the business having started in the food business working in the kitchen at the Craigleith Depot for the Knappmans way back in the 1900’s! In fact she is “awesomely excited” to get a bigger brighter location with more seating and a bigger kitchen to play in. So rest assured the best local restaurant will stand well into the next millennium.
