Learn to Curl at any age - Beaver Valley Arena

Anne Loughlin, (far right) accompanied by 3 of her 5 kids, their spouses and 3 of her 12 grandchildren enjoyed curling offered by the Blue Mountains Curling Centre at the Beaver Valley Arena, Thornbury. Anne began the sport of curling when she was 79.

The Curling Centre also offered 2 hour lessons to a group while they were visiting the area.

Their company organized a trip for 9 colleagues to Blue Mountain and they were looking for an introduction class (2-3h) to curling in December. They wanted to try the Canadian thing to do in winter - CURLING. The BMCC was able to supply icetime and instructors and learned the group came from 5 different countries. Russia, Germany, France, Cuba and Mexico.

Thank you very much again for hosting us last Friday. We really enjoyed the experience and some of us are seriously thinking about joining a curling club in Toronto. We will see you soon for sure!

The Blue Mountains Curling Centre began offering Friday and Saturday curling on a 4 sheet conversion in the Beaver Valley Arena October  2018

The 2018/2019 season will consist of 15 weekends. A great deal of ice time is devoted to encouraging the newcomer / novice to get out and participate. ie:  Daily Open Draw Jitney Curling, Curling 101-Clinics, Student programs and Group events.

JITNEY is a local term used to describe an open draw where curlers sign up for a game and teams are selected randomly using a pegboard system. Jitney draws are held Friday and Saturday morning, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon - open to anyone.

CURLING 101: is available Saturdays from 1pm-4pm - signup to reserve a spot

PRACTICE TIME : is available Friday and Saturday at designated times according to the schedule

KIDS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: Ice time has been set aside on Fridays throughout the season.

COMMUNITY GROUPS: A number of 2 hour blocks of time are available throughout the season to accommodate participation by community groups on Saturdays

MEMBERSHIP: BMCC will offer a single and very affordable Annual Fee of $150.00 plus $20 OCA and CCA dues plus HST for a total of $189.50. A Pay Pass is also available for $30 which allows 3 1 hour sessions.

As a weekend only facility BMCC will be affordable for both the new and occasional curler and: the group envisions BMCC acting as a complement to the active Membership of the Curling Clubs in the surrounding region as the BMCC will offer lots of practice time, instruction and a chance for an extra game each week.

The BMCC has all the equipment required for beginners. Wear warm clothing and clean rubber soled shoes.  Come on out and give it a try.

Check out the website for the schedule and signup to participate.
