The Review

What a crazy thing to see on a dull December morning.

Posted On: Monday, December 6, 2021

Ten brave people plunging into Georgian Bay at the beach in Thornbury, Sunday December 5th

What a crazy thing to see on a dull December morning.

This polar dip (swim?) called Brain Freeze is a fundraiser for a very important Canadian organization called Jack.org Dedicated to youth mental health, it is run by youth helping youth.

The local organizer was Charlene Spiessman with a crew of helpers who are called the Yogi Bears – students or friends of the Mantra Yoga Studio (now owned by Charlene). The total received locally was well over $3600. It is worth your while to take a few minutes to check out the website and watch some inspiring videos about youth who are having tough times navigating the teenage years who are then helped by their peers.

Next year if you want to be part of a very courageous crowd you too can join the mayhem or come to the beach to watch the show. If you see Margot Rochester, or Simone Sterio or Charlene ask them how cold it really felt. Not just a brain freeze but a total body freeze!
