Strong Community Support Means A Strong Community Hospital

Posted On: Saturday, April 25, 2020

At the Meaford Hospital, the safety of our patients and our staff is at the forefront. Our frontline teams continue to provide high quality care to our patients and the staff that are working around the clock to support them.

Strong Community Support Means A Strong Community Hospital

You can support our community too. The Meaford Hospital physicians, nurses and countless other frontline and behind-the-scenes staff are rallying in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Your hospital team is here for you – please stay home, this will be a huge help to those working tirelessly to keep our community safe.

There are also other ways you can help;

Like many other hospitals and both Bruce and Grey Counties, GBHS is asking the public for donations of Personal Protective Equipment. We have adequate supplies right now, but we know the public would like to show their support for healthcare workers, and if they are willing to bring forward supplies, we are happy to accept them. We are asking for new, unused supplies of the following:

  • Masks – surgical and N95
  • Full or half face respirators, and cartridges and filters with model numbers N99, N100 / R95, R99, R100 / P95, P99, P100)
  • Disposable isolation gowns
  • Gloves – examination or surgeons gloves (Vinyl/Nitrile)
  • Safety goggles
  • Face shields (lightweight plastic)
  • Hospital Scrubs/uniforms

Residents and businesses can call (519) 378-1466 between 12 noon and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday to arrange drop off.

In these uncertain times we ask that you continue to follow updates and precautions recommended by reliable sources such as the ones listed below:

As our community continues to explore creative ways to support one another amidst social distancing and business closures we assure you that The Meaford Hospital Foundation is committed to maintaining communication with our donors and community.

Our office is closed and staff are working from home to provide safety for you, our patients, hospital staff and colleagues.

If you wish to reach us during the office closure please call (519) 538-1311 ext. 4208 or (519) 377-0578 or we can be reached by email at

At this moment we don’t know specifically what the needs will be, just that there will be needs that are not otherwise funded by government, and things that we need to make happen quickly. Having surplus funds set aside for Covid-19 will allow us to purchase what is required.

Making a donation today will ensure our team at The Meaford Hospital has the essential lifesaving equipment, technology and supplies to provide patients with the best possible care and safety for all patients – and themselves during this time of unrest.

Thank you for your support during this crisis. It has never been more important that we come together as a community to ensure that we are doing all we can.

We thank you all for your generosity and commitment to supporting local healthcare during this unsettling time.

For each donation of $20 via our online site one of our volunteers will deliver a WE SUPPORT sign for your front lawn.
